Earthly Pleasures Cafe – Belgrave

I’ve been desperate to try the Earthly Pleasures Cafe for a while since having recommendations from a few friends and reading some great reviews.

This Sunday, we finally managed to visit… and what a delight it was! We entered via the back garden, after having had a stroll around Belgrave Big Dreams Market (and picking up some gorgeous vegan cheese from AVS Organic Foods). We managed to secure a table on the top lawn, surrounded by gorgeous greenery and flowers and then went inside to grab some menus. It was extremely busy around the front (any empty tables were reserved) and pretty busy inside, so I think we had been extremely lucky to get a table out the back!

On their website, Earthly Pleasures Cafe is described as an ‘ethically focused’ cafe, so I was pretty hopeful of finding something vegan on their menu. I made my mind up to have the Lentil and Veg Soup, and asked when ordering if they could check it was vegan, and the guy serving casually informed me that yes, it was definitely vegan. It was so refreshing to not have raised eyebrows, or having to wait for someone to check with kitchen staff…. His casual and knowledgeable response made me feel perfectly normal!

My step-daughter ordered the Organic Mountain Bread Wrap with fresh garden salad and mayo, and my husband had the same, but with chicken (free range).

The food came out, and was stunning. My soup was delicious, and beautifully presented. The other meals looked fantastic too, the wraps were stuffed full with various fresh salad bits, (which my baby daughter kept pinching bits of!)

The drinks menu also looked pretty good, with local craft beers and Victorian wines. We will definitely be visting again. I’ve got my eye on the Scrambled Tofu breakfast!
